Success Story 3
Jason Doty
Persevere Graduate
Project Management
Milestones Reached
Jason had been working with computers since high school, designing websites and exploring technology. After serving in the military, he struggled with untreated PTSD and began self-medicating, which led to blackouts and repeated trouble with the law. Eventually, Jason ended up in prison. While incarcerated, he discovered the Persevere program. With little hope for what life after prison might look like, he decided to take a chance. Jason didn’t just complete the program—he excelled. He became a teaching assistant while still incarcerated, and after his release Persevere hired him as an Assistant Instructor. Over time, he worked his way up to Instructor.
Today, Jason is a Software Development Instructor and Curriculum Developer at Persevere. He helps teach students with little or no technical experience and guides them toward real careers in technology. Jason is also finishing his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Information Technology.
His journey shows how opportunity and determination can completely change the direction of a life.
