On December 6, 2024, at Lowell Correctional in Florida, fifteen women graduated from a rigorous full-stack web development program. Dubbed “Coding Courage: Florida’s Path to Transformation at Lowell Correctional,” their achievement marks a powerful journey from confinement to empowerment.
WCI in Florida hosted a ceremony for the first graduating class of the Persevere Program at the facility, handing inmates a diploma and a second chance at a better life.
On Friday, WCI “formally celebrated” the Persevere Program coming to its facility. Persevere is a year-long course focusing on training inmates to become full-stack web developers. It includes life skills classes and the opportunity to get help with transitional housing, according to officials. Persevere launched our Florida classes at 2 facilities at the end of 2023.
